Readly, the digital subscription service that gives customers unlimited access to 5,000 magazines worldwide for a fixed monthly fee, has announced its first-ever awards for audience engagement across its full range of titles.
With 800 participating publishers and over +32bn data points used to identify the winners across six different categories, the awards represent the first of their kind worldwide.
Ranj Begley, UK Managing Director and Chief Content Officer at Readly, comments, “With users in 50 markets, Readly is both a distribution platform and an analytics tool. We hope that by celebrating the winners we’ll be able to inspire more publishers to dig deep into the numbers. After all, this is an industry award that is completely defined by data and not by a jury.
“These winning publishers all have one thing in common, they have managed to truly catch people’s interest. Instead of endless scrolling on social media or losing time to mobile gaming – the audience has stayed reading, bookmarked pages and marked articles as favourites. And that high level of engagement and consumption of rewarding content is what we call magazine magic.”
The winners of the Readly Digital Engagement Awards 2020 are:
1. Readly Reach Award – Computer Bild, De
This award recognizes the magazine brand that has reached the highest number of unique readers in 2020. Computer Bild, owned by Axel Springer SE, not only continued to keep its existing audience thoroughly engaged, but attracted the highest level of readers throughout the year.
2. Readly Read Time Award – The People’s Friend Pocket Novel, UK
This brand, owned by DC Thomson, stands out as the one that elicited the longest read time in a single session. This magazine kept its readers engaged and entertained for a longer duration than any other magazine on the platform, perhaps not surprising as the content is based on a long-read format.
3. Readly Bookmark Award – BBC Good Food, UK
This award celebrates the magazine article that accrued the highest number of bookmarks on Readly – the article that the platform’s readers returned to time and time again. Publisher: Immediate Media.
4. Readly Engagement Award – Bamse för de Yngsta, SE
This award is presented to the magazine brand that kept its audience captivated from beginning to end and consistently had the highest percentage of pages read in any given issue.
5. Readly Reader’s Favourite Award – National Geographic, DE
This award celebrates the magazine brand with the highest number of favorites on the Readly platform. Publisher: National Geographic Society.
6. Readly Magic of Magazines Award – Future Publishing, UK
The Magic of Magazines Award celebrates the publisher that made the best use of Readly’s data to achieve maximum results for their magazine brands.
