HBM Advisory works with its publisher clients to help them unlock the full potential of their digital content.

Co-founders Michael Brunt and Alan Hunter have decades of experience in digital publishing with companies such as The Times and Sunday Times and The Economist.

Michael has unrivalled expertise on the business side, having been general manager of The Times, where he was responsible for its most profitable year to date, and publisher of The Economist. In the latter role, he turned a loss-making circulation business into the largest contributor of profit at The Economist Group.

Alan was a print journalist and editor for 15 years before becoming head of digital at The Times. In that role, he was responsible for its journalistic output in digital, both on and off platform, and also led its digital transformation, both in terms of strategy and newsroom organisation. In 2016 he combined the websites of The Times and The Sunday Times and launched a new smartphone app, which quickly became the titles’ leading platform, eclipsing the award-winning tablet app.

HBM Advisory helps clients across all elements of their business, with projects as big as devising a new digital strategy, preparing subscription launches and undertaking a content audit, to smaller-scale ones such as conducting a review of editorial and marketing newsletters and advising on newsroom analytics.

Clients in our first two years have included The Wall Street Journal, Future plc, National World, Harvard Business Review, MIT Technology Review, Monocle and the Royal Opera House.
