Seven free weekly newspapers in the UK have closed with immediate effect. The View From series of local newspapers covering East Devon, West Dorset and South Somerset – with a combined circulation of 33,000 (unaudited figures) – published their final editions last week.
Media company director Duncan Williams, who set up the fund, said: “Local newspapers are the voice of our communities….brands that have over a 100 years of reporting credibility should not be lost.”
