Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

All the editorial team and writers at What’s New in Publishing, as well as our owners Sovrn Holdings, Inc., would like to wish our readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Over the festive period, the team will be taking a well-earned break from Christmas Eve onwards. We will be publishing features again as usual from Monday, 4th Jan and our weekly newsletter will resume on Thursday, 7th January.

It’s been a deeply challenging year – one that tested the resilience, endurance and strength of publishers across the globe. Perhaps the starkest lesson is a reminder that, as an industry, publishers play a hugely important role in society at large, and our content is a key part of the fabric that binds our world together. We need to honour that by taking our responsibilities more seriously than ever.

We’d like to end on an upbeat note with an extract from publishing luminary Bo Sacks’ end of year message, “We are continuing to innovate as an industry and that process will pay off ten-fold when this crisis is over … I suspect by June of 2021 we will see start-ups galore and new publications popping up everywhere hopefully reemploying our lost and furloughed team members.” Amen to that.

On behalf of all of us at WNIP, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
