SHARON WAXMAN: ‘The Business of Hollywood’

Waxman is synonymous with in-depth Hollywood reporting and entrepreneurial media prowess. Waxman has revolutionised Hollywood reporting as TheWrap’s founder, CEO, and Editor-in-Chief.

  • Founded in 2009, TheWrap is a leading force in the business of entertainment media, celebrated for its impeccable news gathering and journalistic independence.
  • Award-Winning Excellence: Under her leadership, TheWrap has garnered numerous accolades, including the 2021 Online Journalist of the Year by the LA Press Club’s SoCal Journalism Awards.
  • At Mx3 Barcelona: Waxman will share what “the business of Hollywood” tells us about the future of media.

PAUL MILLER: ‘Value Creation in the Experience Economy’

Miller has successfully led and grown B2B media businesses with revenues ranging from $30 million to $250 million in privately and publicly held companies. His many achievements include being a member of the executive leadership team that completed the sale of Penton to Informa for $1.2 billion. Now CEO of Questex, Miller continues to play at the forefront of innovation and value creation in the information services sector, guiding Questex to new heights in the rapidly evolving experience economy. At Mx3 Barcelona, hear from Miller about:

  • Strategic Vision: Miller’s foresight in shaping Questex’s growth, ensuring it stays ahead in serving the experience economy.
  • Creating High-Performing Teams: How his passion for building winning cultures is pivotal in fostering innovative and efficient teams.
  • Driving Customer Success: With a focus on enhancing offerings, how Questex develops superior value for its customers.

SAM BAKER: ‘A Trailblazer in Women’s and Creator-led Media’

Baker’s journey from British magazines to digital media and now a highly successful independent creator marks her as a formidable media figure. She is a former editor at magazines such as J17, Cosmopolitan and Red, co-founder of The Pool, and, since 2020, the creator of The Shift, an independent podcast for women that has since evolved to include a newsletter and community play with six-figure revenues. At Mx3 Barcelona, Baker will discuss:

  • The Value of Focus: Through her various platforms, Sam has been a relentless advocate for women’s rights and issues, particularly those affecting midlife women. Hear how she thinks about and follows her North Star.
  • Media Evolution: Her journey from traditional magazines to digital media to podcasting, newsletters, and community (plus monetisation!) and how independence, adaptability and forward-thinking matter in the ever-evolving media landscape.
  • Community Building: ‘The Shift’ is more than a podcast; it’s a community that resonates with and supports midlife women, reflecting Sam’s commitment to creating inclusive spaces. She will explain how tight-knit communities create value for participants and the creator behind the group.
